New Hilton Garden Inn opening in Delaware County ahead of 2026 tourism boom

Metro Philly Management is constructing the 107-room hotel at 2 Donovan Drive in Media, PA. CEO Patrick Burns said the company expects to open the 67,000-square-foot hotel before the end of the year.

Neighborhood Stalwart Transformed: ShopRite of Drexeline

ShopRite of Drexeline, part of Burns’ Family Neighborhood Markets, has been serving the community in Drexel Hill, PA, for 43 years. It celebrated a well-earned grand opening of a new store, and enjoyed a successful first year. The new store is about 72,000 square feet total, with a produce department of approximately 4,000 square feet. “Our new produce department is about double the space of our old store, allowing for expanded variety of both traditional and organic produce offerings,” says Brown.

The Burns’ Family Fresh Grocer Unveils Mural Paying Tribute to West Philadelphia

The Burns’ Family Fresh Grocer, in collaboration with Mural Arts Philadelphia, the nation’s largest public-art program, dedicated a new mural, Sowing Desire, at The Fresh Grocer store at 5601 Chestnut Street in Philadelphia, on Thursday, Aug. 25 at 11 a.m. The artwork is described as “an ode to West Philadelphia; the women artists who live, work and shop there; and the long history of community gardens and the importance of fresh food in our lives.”

Fresh Grocer Partners with Drexel Men’s Basketball to Fight Hunger in Philadelphia

The Fresh Grocer and Drexel Men’s Basketball celebrated another successful ‘Three’s for Hunger’ program to help fight hunger in Philadelphia. For every three-pointer made during the basketball season, The Fresh Grocer committed to donating one case of food to Philabundance to give out to those in need. This season, the team scored over 200 three-pointers and the fundraiser was able to provide over four thousand meals for the hungry.

Burns’ Family Supermarkets Raise 10K for Red Cross

Nine local Fresh Grocer and ShopRite supermarkets, owned and operated by the Burns family, raised $10,000 for the American Red Cross during their seventh annual fundraiser held in March in honor of National Red Cross Month.  The month-long fundraiser was supported by both corporate and customer donations.  All proceeds will help the Red Cross deliver on its mission of preventing and alleviating human suffering in the face of emergencies.
